Extra early day tomorrow so I can't write much.
Today at class we mostly worked on Sepai. We ran through the pattern several times and worked on some bunkai through it. One of the things Sensei talked a lot about was this step (I forget the name of it!) that you do at the very beginning of the kata, where you flick your heels out, and you're cheating the opponent, the opponent thinks you're in front of him, but you're really not.
One of the things he talked a little about was how Karate is all about the entry, and all about commanding the space and controlling the body.
too much to write about right now, some reminders for later: whipping punch, escape grab throat strike at the beginning, the thing where you lock the arm-kick and pull em in, this kata probably would suit me well, saifa bunkai, those two bunkai from seyunchin-the very beginning, and the "reinforced" block; later I should just run through everything we did in class in my head and write it down
After class he told me the way he used to take notes, sounds like a good way, I need to get a new notebook and try it out.
Friday I went on a short fast run, and Saturday I went on a really long run with a friend of mine through Capitol Hill, Montlake, and UW.

Yes...I like Sepai as well. :) That 'whipping' punch in Saifa has eluded me so far, and I find that Sepai is helping to get get it down. It's all about those parabolic arcs for me...
