Rory Miller Seminar and things

I've been a bit busy lately, I've at least been doing some kihon and some kata in the morning, although I hurt my knee coming down a mountain a couple weeks ago, it's still giving me some trouble so I'm trying to take it easy with my legs. A few weeks ago I attended a Rory Miller in Seattle at a bar, it was awesome, I haven't read his book yet, Meditations on Violence, but now I certainly will, during the seminar he also talked a little about his next book. I don't have my notes with me, and I should have written this shortly after the seminar when it was still fresh in my mind. I'll write more about it after I review my notes; he covered different types of violence, how people react in violence, flinch reactions, we did a bunch of slow motion fighting drills and other drills, legal stuff, and he showed some videos for examples of violence and how people react, everybody freezes, I started writing more about it but I should review my notes before I do.

Here's some blog posts about the seminar, if you click on the first picture you can see part of me, I'm wearing a blue shirt.

Just a quick post, I'll write more this weekend. I've been searching for a new place to live since my friend from NH moved back, I found a place in West Seattle, that isn't too far from the West Seattle Karate Academy, I spoke with Kris Wilder after the seminar, when I move up there I'm going to stop in, I hope it works out well because I would love to train there!

I recently read the book Eating Animals by Jonathan Safran Foer, I'll write more on this later, it's a good book; I'm already a vegetarian but now I'm considering going vegan, I've been reading a bunch of articles online about, and I picked up a couple books from the library on it too, one's a cook book and the other is Becoming Vegan. Last weekend I also watched Food Inc, overall I liked it but I'm unsure about the farm they showed, Polyface Farm, no doubt it's way better than factory farms and such, but I read the the chickens they use are essentially the same genetically modified ones used in factory farms, so they're born suffering and messed up. I've also been reading about vegan athletes, and was happy to learn that the TUF season six winner is a Vegan, Mac Danzig.

I had a good workout on Wednesday, and a light workout last night, today at work was a decent shoulder workout, and tomorrow I'll workout some more, this weekend I'm going to try to do some intervals on the cycle, depending on how my knee is, I need to get more prepared for training in a dojo.

Sleep.
