Yesterday I did a quick workout before I left to visit my girlfriend. Several sets of pullups/chinups-weighted, about 45lbs, weighted push ups, ring dips, 3-4 sets of dumbbell snatches, 3 sets of wrist roller, 3 sets of chi ishi, 2 sets of bodyweight tricep extensions, some flags, and hand grip work.
I recently made a "sandbag" to workout with, it's a surplus duffel bag that I filled with wood pellets, for wood furnaces, one bag that weighs forty pounds sells for 5$ at Home Depot, I bought two bags, I've started to incorporate it into my workout, and I like it a lot; not have a fixed handle to grab onto and its odd shape is an added challenge, I've mostly been doing clean and presses with it.
I also made two dumbbells a few weeks ago, wicked easy to do, took two pipes eighteen inches long and four hose clamps on each, and wrapped the handle part with tennis grip tape, they work well. I'm going to make two more to keep designated for farmers walks ans shrugs.
My training for the past couple weeks has been a bit slack, but that has ended. I've been bummed that I haven't had anyone to train with in Goju-ryu, but I shouldn't let that stop me from training! I found a boxing gym in town, not too far from me; I posted a question on the International Goju-ryu Development Society on boxing and I got some good feedback, so I'm going to start training there when I get back from NH on the 14th. I was going to start tomorrow but financially it'll make more sense to start when I get back so I wont be paying for two weeks of no training. I'm excited about it, I visited the gym last week, looks pretty cool, seemed pretty intense, a good workout, pretty much nonstop for an 1 -1.5 hours. I'll really have to plan my meals out well since I'll be leaving straight from work to the gym and then to my apartment, long 12hr+ days. I'll also have to change my strength training around a bit, I'll probably just do two sessions a week, with a third that will include neck, forearms, and core. I'm going to start doing more isometrics too, I'm going to make a simple isometric tool, consists of a 2x4, a dowel and some chain.
